Perfect Sessions
Made Simple
Board Meeting uses sophisticated algorithms to analyze weather conditions and recommend the best times for your surf and kitesurf sessions.
Our surfing algorithm evaluates multiple factors to find your perfect wave conditions. Each factor is weighted based on its importance to overall surf quality.
Example: Perfect Morning Session
Conditions:
- • Wave height: 1.5m
- • Wave period: 12s
- • Wind: 5 knots offshore
- • Temperature: 22°C
- • Time: 7 AM
- • Spot: Well-aligned reef break
Scoring:
- Wave height:10.0 × 0.30 = 3.0
- Wave period:9.3 × 0.20 = 1.86
- Wind:9.5 × 0.20 = 1.9
- Spot:9.0 × 0.15 = 1.35
- Weather:10.0 × 0.10 = 1.0
- Time:10.0 × 0.05 = 0.5
- Total Score:9.61/10
Understanding spot orientation
Spot orientation is critical for accurate scoring. It defines the direction your beach faces (perpendicular to the shoreline, pointing out to sea) and determines how wind and waves interact with your spot.
How Orientation Works:
- • 0° = North: Beach faces north
- • 90° = East: Beach faces east
- • 180° = South: Beach faces south
- • 270° = West: Beach faces west
Why It Matters:
- • Determines if wind is offshore or onshore
- • Shows if waves hit the beach directly
- • Affects safety (especially for kitesurfing)
- • Impacts overall session quality
Example: A west-facing beach (270°) with west wind (270°) has onshore conditions (wind blowing directly at the beach). The same beach with east wind (90°) has perfect offshore conditions (wind blowing from land to sea).
💡 Pro tip: If your spot's orientation isn't set, we estimate it based on location and name, but this may be less accurate. For best results, ensure your spots have accurate orientation data!
Personalized to you
Our algorithm adapts to your personal preferences and skill level. When you set your preferences in Board Meeting, we adjust our scoring to match your ideal conditions.
For Surfing:
- • Your preferred wave height range
- • Skill level (affects size tolerance)
- • Preferred time of day
- • Temperature preferences
For Kitesurfing:
- • Your wind speed comfort range
- • Ideal wind direction for your spot
- • Kite size and experience level
- • Water state preferences
💡 Pro tip: The more accurate your preferences, the better we can find your perfect sessions. Update them as your skills improve!
